I must say, this was a bit awkward; we were walking towards each other and and upon noticing her smiling eyes, I said a cheerful “Hi!” She replied with a “hi” but I had already walked past so had to stop and turn towards her. “Long day!” I said, continuing my cheery approach. She responded in kind and said she was just going home after helping out at a breast cancer charity ball. We quickly had some very easy banter going but she got off a station later. It was all so pleasant I didn’t want to spoil it by cutting in with a “wait, let me get your number”.
In retrospect, I may as well have, but I feel that even if it had worked, it leaves a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth – she totally just got picked up. Trust me, that’s how they think, had I said “I want to plan a Halloween Party, give me a call to discuss” and handed her my card then then it could have gone a lot better.
That’s a couple of To Do’s this week:
1. New Business cards
and
2. Plan a Halloween Party
